Since its founding in 2009, Biographers International Organization (BIO) has been proud to bring together aspiring and experienced biographers to advance the art and craft of biography. Each year, BIO provides writers, researchers, filmmakers, educators, and all those engaged in biography with support and community to pursue, continue, and complete their biographical works. BIO accomplishes this through an array of offerings, including its annual conference, yearly awards and fellowships, monthly and quarterly newsletters, online workshops and roundtables, and its popular BIO podcast.

An independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit membership organization, BIO is funded entirely by its members and their friends through dues and donations. BIO receives no assistance from the government or foundations.
